Fighting forest fires requires the participation of several parties. A specific command structure is followed during fire suppression activities. SOPFEU has four regional fire centres (RFC) and one provincial fire centre (PFC).
These centres work together to map out a fire suppression strategy. They must anticipate potentially problem situations and ensure that detection and firefighting resources are in sufficient number throughout the province.
This work is done in close collaboration with specialized services that oversee the development and operation of computer systems, telecommunication material and state-of-the-art electronic equipment. The forest fire information system (SIIF) makes it possible to have access to all information required for making decisions in real time.
