Close soffits

Practical tip for the immediate zone.

Back
Why is it important to close soffits and protect vents?

When a wildfire approaches a home, embers carried by the wind become a serious threat. These small, glowing particles can travel several kilometres and slip into even the smallest openings of a house.

If soffits are open or vents are not protected with mesh, embers can enter the attic or roof space. Once inside, they often come into contact with dry, flammable materials that can ignite quickly, putting the entire home at risk.

By ensuring that soffits are closed and vents are covered with durable metal mesh, the risk of a wildfire sparking a fire inside the house is greatly reduced.
