Fire #2025_513, located in the Domaine Morency area in La Tuque, started on October 16. It was previously considered under control, but strong winds caused it to regain intensity overnight. Its status will be reassessed once SOPFEU has observed the fire’s behaviour throughout the morning.

About a dozen municipal firefighters quickly responded last night around 10:45 p.m. The fire advanced near Highway 155, at the north entrance of La Tuque. The main objective of the municipal response was to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes.

This morning, SOPFEU wildland firefighters are assisting municipal crews on site. A SOPFEU helicopter is also on its way to La Tuque.

It should be noted that this type of fire, fuelled by light materials such as fallen leaves, can appear more intense and widespread—especially at night—due to visual contrast.
