The wildfire, covering an area of approximately 11.5 hectares, was declared under control yesterday at 3:30 p.m. This means it should no longer spread beyond its current perimeter unless there is a significant change in weather conditions or available resources.

Fifteen forest firefighters remain on site. Thanks to the rainfall and the continued efforts of the crews, the fire remains generally calm, although it is still active within its boundaries. As a result, smoke or visible flames may still be observed until the fire is fully extinguished.

In the coming days, efforts will focus on strengthening the perimeter, extinguishing remaining hot spots, and patrolling the entire affected area.

It is difficult to estimate when the fire will be completely out, as several factors — including upcoming weather, terrain, vegetation, and the depth of hot spots — influence the duration of suppression efforts.

The SOPFEU is asking for the public’s cooperation and reminds everyone to avoid the area to allow crews to work safely and without interference.

This will be the final update for this wildfire.

The aerial survey conducted this morning by the Operations Section Manager estimated the fire’s size at 11.5 hectares.

Thanks to the rainfall overnight, fire activity is calm today. Wildland firefighters on site are working to contain the fire using a hose line in order to stop its spread completely and declare it under control by tomorrow.

The #Fire2025_532, located north of Marks Road in the Gracefield area, was reported yesterday around 5 p.m. by municipal firefighters. SOPFEU quickly dispatched two water bombers and a team of wildland firefighters to the scene.

At the time of the initial response, the fire was contained to approximately 1.5 hectares (ha), but the short intervention window before sunset limited operations. During the evening, strong winds rekindled the blaze, which is now estimated at about 5 ha.

Rain that began overnight has helped reduce the fire’s intensity. This morning, a break in the weather is expected to allow for a helicopter flyover to update the sketch map and assess the fire’s actual extent.

Sixteen wildland firefighters are currently en route to the site to continue suppression operations.
